DRIVE-UP FOOD PANTRY

The Seed

After discussion between local ministers, the Community Food Pantry was started as a mission project of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Edneyville, NC, and Fruitland United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, NC. These small rural churches identified the food insecurity in their surrounding areas of Henderson County, NC and decided to take action.

Shoot to Sprout

It was the initial hope of the Community Food Pantry

to serve 35 families at best and yet, From September 2018 our Community Food Pantry has registered thousands of families from Henderson County.

Our first location was beside Griffin’s Store on Hwy 64 in the Edneyville community. After 15 months, we had outgrown our first home, and moved to the current location (3685 Chimney Rock Rd.)

which gave us three times the space.

DRIVE-UP FOOD PANTRY

Weathering Storms

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit we made the necessary transition  from a client choice shopping experience to a hybrid model of

pre-packed non-perishable items combined with meat, fresh fruits, vegetables and baked goods.

This allows us to serve more neighbors each week!

Strong Branches & Ripe Fruit

Community Food Pantry is committed to serving our neighbors' food insecurity needs.

It is our hope that the community as a whole will embrace the work that is being done at Community Food Pantry

and truly make it a collection of neighbors supporting one another.
